إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمًا، مِائَةً إِلَّا وَاحِدًا، مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ
“Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred minus one; whoever preserves and internalises them will enter Paradise.”

This hadith is authentic (sahih) and establishes that Allah has 99 names, promising Paradise to whoever takes them to heart. The specific enumerated list of 99 names — the wording used throughout this site and in most printed lists — comes down to us through a separate narration in Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi (3507), which a number of hadith scholars, including Ibn Taymiyyah, considered less strongly authenticated for that exact list than the core hadith itself. The names are nonetheless all firmly rooted in the Qur’an and the wider body of authentic hadith.
